No midi music in z expansion XP (solved)

Post by barkmann » 2007-08-19, 01:39

Midi plays fine while the initial screen is displayed, but when you start the game itself midi stops playing.

Any ideas on how to get the music working within the game?

edit: solved; I changed the Default Midi music playback device in 'Sounds and Audio Devices Properties' to Microsoft GS Wavetable SW synth instead of the SB Audigy.

yay!

Thanks, this fixed it for me... I also noticed no lag when the bases blow up, no idea when this was fixed because I used to get a framedrop even with the latest version. I was wondering why older versions seemed like they fixed the issue, must've been using synth before.

I have an idea to convert midi to trackers music (xm, mod, it), and thus free from external midi devices.

The music is quite integral to the whole game experience as it changes tempo/rhythm/mood depending on the state of gameplay.

It would definitely be good for people who have midi player issues to be able to hear the music.

Hey,
at first, thanks for your good work, the XP patch is great.

But i don't hear any music, effect and speech during the cut scenes.
In the game, i can only hear the music but no speech and effects.

Is there any way to solve it?

Thank you from Germany

Anybody else interested this game?

I am preparing a new version, in which the plan permanently solve all the problems with music. Send any mistakes when you play the music you met and how to deal with. Plans have the full conversion of music in MIDI format into trackers S3M, IT or XM.

I probably need well as designers. We'll draw a banner with a 320x200 pixels.

I tried the new version and it's actually pretty excellent.

If you can make the game use module music, I think that would be a great idea...Maybe it would allow for improved samples like those used in Speedball 2(CD32)?

This can be achieved only in collaboration with the musician. Maximum that I can do is simply to convert a MIDI to XM.
